The Dark Heart of Mina Sauk

Not missing the chance to plug something, I want to direct you to  the The Dark Heart of Mina Sauk a Doubledorkmeter  podcast episode. Being very honest here I'm plugging it because I provide a voice for it and it was a massive challenge to record.  It's a horror story in the Lovecraft tradition ( funnily enough the only audio drama I've been in that can be described as such). So hop on over!

Demos for amateur voice actors

Rina takes us through creating demos for online amateur voice actors. Demos are sample reels of an actor’s work that they can use to show off what they do. Rina explains:

Disclaimer: This guide is intended for those wishing to make an Internet voice demo for the sake of being scouted for online projects. Those who wish to make a demo for professional usage are encouraged to seek the advice of someone in the industry as the standards will differ.

Basic Guide to auditioning by Nikkita

Nikkita has written up a handy guide to auditions which she has kindly let me reproduce here:

An important aspect of voice acting (amateur and professional) is your audition, and presentation.

Consider the audition like you would a job interview. You’re competing against many other voice overs, some with far more experience than yourself… This is your chance to stand up and show the world what you are made of.

Preparing Video in virtual dub It's likely that a lot of the time you'll have to make your own clips from full longer files. Premiere can do this, but Virtualdub is much quicker and user-friendly. Here I'll demonstrate how to prepare a clip from a longer file.
