Hello there,

I'm an animation student gearing up to make a short film (a personal project, by the by, not a piece of coursework) about girl guides of the future who are taken on an educational trip to another planet; I'm hoping to put it together over the Summer. I've cast my classmates in most of the roles and used the school recording facilities, but I'm one actor short and I figured I'd come on here to find someone.

I'm afraid I won't be able to pay right now, although I'm open to discussions about payment after the film's been released.

The character in question is a woman who gives the girl guides a tour. She's unnamed and a minor character, but she gets a good deal of dialogue as she's there largely to provide exposition. She gets ten lines, mostly very short but three are longer:

"Welcome all of you to Artakama! The planet's government has just unveiled
Alexandria, a computer tower that aids the navigational systems of vehicles.
Something like the Satnav systems used in the 21st century - it covers less
than a satelleite, but it's much easier to repair, which is a definite plus
point. In this part of the planet at least, it's impossible to get lost."

"A prototype! And a very early one, I'd say - from back when they were planning
a network of devices kept in the air by anti-gravity, as opposed to a single
tower. Must have been disposed of incorrectly. Evidently malfunctioned too,
judging by your description."

"If it was partly the fault of you letting these minors out of your sight, then
perhaps their parents and-stroke-or guardians might have a thing or two to say!
And if your negligence devalues this company's image, then we may have grounds
to..."

I think of her as American (although since the character lives on another planet I suppose any accent will do). She's in her late twenties or early thirties; very yuppie-ish, delivering officially-sanctioned spiel while trying her best to feign enthusiasm - think along the lines of someone trying to sell you something over the telephone. At the end of the short she gets into an argument with the girl guide leader, and a degree of hostility starts bubbling to the surface.

As far as audition lines go, the first of the quoted paragraphs above will do, along with this line from the argument scene:

"You are describing the company in terms that are slanderous!"

If you're interested, please send your recordings as a .WAV file to neil@re-site.co.uk before 1 March.

Thanks for reading!
