I'm just building up a list of reference material for each character. Film Noir is quite often public domain, so that makes watching the movies free and easy for everyone!
These are just links to the whole movies, I will add more, and sort links to specific, relevant scenes shortly
John (renamed to Sam Archer) - Lt. Leonard Diamond - The Big Combo (full movie)
Jane - Elsa "Rosalie" Bannister - The Lady from Shanghai (full movie)
Mob Boss - Zaroff - The Most Dangerous Game (full movie)
More information coming shortly
The first thing is, accents. Film Noir would suggest American. To begin with, that doesn't mean that every single character will, or should be American. The fact that we're not going to aim for a strict adherence to Film Noir, but leaving it more flexible, means that we can have characters and situations from many different nationalities than you'd normally expect. That doesn't, however, apply to "John" and "Jane". The plan is to drop the player into the game with little to no back story and expect them to know what's going on and who each character is. The easiest thing in this case is to layer on clichés.
The project has a website (ignore the standard theme, it's being rethemed this week) but there's nothing much on there yet. However, I have started a character bio page on it, which will link to more in depth bios of all the main characters. Again, this isn't actually populated properly yet, but I hope to be able to get that done tonight, so if you'd like more detail on a character, keep an eye on there.
One last thing. It doesn't matter at all what your geographical location is, however, I am located in London. I am looking into the possibility of getting access to proper recording equipment. If there are enough people in, or around London, this might be an option (assuming I can find something I can fit into the kickstarter budget)
I'll definitely be coming back here :)
I was a little worried that I had forgotten something in the post. I think I should mention that there's no hard and fast deadline for this, it would probably be good to have some of the audio before kickstarter, so I think I will probably close it up when we feel we're a couple of weeks away from being ready for Kickstarter. So at the very soonest, it will be 2 weeks, but probably more like 1 month's time
I will have more voice acting roles for this project soon. Please visit my youtube channel for updates.

A small enquiry - is there any form of financial recompense for this, if we were to, say, travel to a studio?
Many thanks,

this is how i'd like the voices to be heard. but if you can't mime al pacino then you can just try to sound angry/violent that's all hope it helps
I have actually got all the voices I need for the male characters at the moment, but I will probably be starting another mod once I finish this one. Feel free to reply with your email so I can let you know when I begin working on a new mod.
Thanks,
Sam
